Old village wells in modern times
Village wells constructed of bricks or laterite are not only water supply points for the whole villages, but also are the characteristic of rural Vietnam. In many places in Hanoi, village wells are still preserved.
The Ngoc (Pearl) Well in front of the King An Duong Vuong Temple in Co Loa commune (Dong Anh District, Hanoi). Legend has it that it was the place where Trong Thuy drowned after his wife My Chau was killed by her father. Ngoc Well is located in the middle of a pond and its water has a very special color - red brown.
A well in Vu Ngoai Hamlet (Lien Bat commune, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi) is no longer used but in is full lotus. Besides the well is a market.
