Sentosa Cove houseboat on sale for $1.38m
By Nikki De Guzman: A rare houseboat (pictured) berthed at the luxury residential enclave of Sentosa Cove in Singapore is up for sale at an eye-popping price of S$1.38 million, or around S$460 psf.
Measuring 3,000 sq ft, the boat is currently owned by a Singaporean couple and has been listed on PropertyGuru under the condominium section for about three months.
It comprises four-bedrooms that have been opulently furnished and a fully-equipped kitchen. Owners have the opportunity to visit nearby islands which is a key selling point.
Speaking exclusively to PropertyGuru, Ken Tan, the property agent marketing the houseboat, said its potential buyers are those looking to reside in Sentosa Cove and want a posh lifestyle “without paying a premium”. He added that the asking price is negotiable.
With a rising trend of overpriced homes and a higher additional buyer’s stamp duty (ABSD) imposed on foreign buyers of Singapore property, more consumers are looking for alternative housing options like living on a boat.
