The sweet tooth’s ultimate bathroom — a tub made of chocolate

27/08/2014

CHOCOHOLIC renovators, here’s a novel idea for updating the bathroom: how about an 8-million-calorie Belgian chocolate bathtub?

Of course, standard porcelain fittings could look out of place against such a choc-tastic tub, so bathrooms.com, the British bathroom furniture website advertising the decadent delight, is also offering a 210,000-calorie chocolate bidet, a 980,000-calorie chocolate toilet and a 210,000 calorie chocolate sink.

Wash your hands in a chocolate sink.

The whole set is advertised for sale for GBP80,000, or about $143,000. Each item is also available for purchase individually, at $12,435 for the “ganache with panache” bidet, almost $16,000 for the sink, about $89,000 for the bathtub and $24,800 for the loo.
Budding Willy Wonkas can expect a two- to three-month wait time, as the chocolate components are made to order.
Bathrooms.com chief executive Ian Monk said the idea came about from the millions of online search engine misspellings of “bathroom suites” as “bathroom sweets”.

Not sure this is a loo we’d like to use.

“Were people looking to find loo-specific treats, or was this just a simple case of bad spelling?” Mr Monk said in a statement on the website.
“The answer is pretty obvious. Clearly people wanted bathroom suites, and they just got it a bit wrong. But that got us thinking: just how do bad spelling, a love of confectionery and bathrooms come together like that?”

For the ganache with panache a chocolate bidet.

The company teamed up with the chocolatiers at the British company Choccywoccydoodah to create the “Maderno Sweet” bathroom set, made from more than 50 kilograms of Belgian chocolate. The entire set contains a whopping 9.4 million calories — more than a decade’s worth.

The chocolate bathroom.

“Our Maderno Bathroom Sweet will add real flavour to your bathroom. It includes the chocolate bidet, basin, bath and toilet and is the perfect place to let life’s little trifles melt away.”

Sadly, the website also carries a disclaimer that the suite tastes better than it works, and will melt if it comes in contact with sunlight, heaters or hot liquids.
